Richard  Pargeter

Born in the Midlands in 1976, Richard's artistic talents were obvious from an early age. As a child he dreamed of being a painter, and he regards himself as one of life's lucky ones who was gifted with the talent to turn dreams into reality. After graduating from the University of Central England with an impressive First Class Honours degree in Visual Communication, Richard became a professional illustrator of children's books. Having painted for pleasure throughout his time at college it seemed a natural course to move straight into freelance work. Richard's determination was soon rewarded with commissions for children's books and numerous other projects including the selection of his work for the New Designers Exhibition in London and Images 24 exhibition which opened at the Royal College of Art and then toured the UK with visits to selected galleries.As well as his painting and illustration work Richard also enjoys working as a lecturer at various Institutes of Art and Design. His first love, however, will always be painting, and now he devotes the majority of his time to creating evocative and dramatic landscapes that captivate the viewer. Preferring to work with acrylics on paper he particularly enjoys bringing a certain mood or atmosphere to his pieces through the use of a rich and bold colour pallet using dabs of paint to create the impression of detail. His numerous exhibitions have provided him with a wealth of new ideas and we are sure that this bright, young and dynamic talent has, without doubt, a great future. "I like the idea that when the weather is grey and wet, you can look at one of my painings and experience the warmth, and feel the colour lift the spirit" There can be little doubt that his glowing landscapes, exploring the lustrous shades of Provencale and Tuscan summers, posses an immediacy and charm that have enchanted art buyers accross the UK.
